- Fear
Throughout most of Scripture, God has to remind his people, "Do not be afraid," often times it doesn't specifically say of what. Most angelic appearances start with this message, yet as I read Genesis and think about economic times God is not just laying down a blank statement about not fearing him. It's deeper than that.
God often identifies himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Why?Jacob Fackler
- Follow Me, Really?
And you should follow my example, just as I follow Christ’s.
- 1 Corinthians 11:1
What? At first reading of this passage I am always struck with the overwhelming feeling that I am not worthy. Paul you are the man. Then I find myself thinking who in their right mind would make such a statement as is found in 1 Corinthians 11:1. Really, does Paul really mean follow me guys as I follow Christ? Does he really mean if you follow what I am doing then you will be doing what Christ wants you to do.? Really, I have found myself at times thinking how in the world that applies to me. Am I to live my life in such a way that people around me could do what I do and honor Christ with their lives?

- You Want Me to Do What
Getting directions has never been easier. There are a plethora of websites, GPS systems, and phone apps that can tell you how to get from point A to point B. Finding direction has become more difficult. Technology has opened doors for exploration as they have never been opened up before. The Information Age could also be called the Age of Overload. We are constantly bombard with ideas about who we should be, how we should dress, what we should look like (almost always younger and fitter), what kind of car we should drive (greener and faster), and what we should spend our time doing. Behind these questions is another, it is not often advertised or directly stated, but it cannot be avoided. What do you believe? Belief determines action and our actions show our belief. However, this does not help explain what we should do with our daily lives. Many of us are left asking the question, "If I am a Christian, what am I supposed to do with my life?"
- Core Values
Do you have core values that define your life? Have you taken the time to write them down?
I hadn't.
I went to a conference where professional speakers urged, with great passion and conviction, to formalize your core values and make every decision through them!

- God Is a God Who Saves
Adam and Eve living in the garden had everything they needed in order to remain holy. All of man’s nature was present in Adam and when he sinned, his nature was permanently inclined toward evil rather than remaining inclined to what was good and holy. Once man disobeyed God, he became incapable of being inclined to goodness and holiness. Man was forever separated from God because of his free choice to sin against Him. Man was warned that if he disobeyed, such actions would lead to his death. He chose to do so despite this warning. Man did not need the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God had made wonderful, perfect, and comprehensive provision for man. Because God gave man everything he needed to remain holy and inclining toward what was good and holy and he deliberately and willfully disobeyed, God would have been perfectly warranted and just to allow the consequence of death for man’s disobedience. Things were changed and there were consequences for man’s disobedience including man’s inclination, expulsion from the garden, the experience of hardship, death, sickness, and natural and moral evil. However, even after man disobeyed God, God made provision for him. If one looks throughout the entirety of scripture, one will observe God making provision for His people. The greatest of these provisions was Jesus Christ.
